DIAMOND RAY FISH STEAK 700G
The diamond stingray (Hypanus dipterurus) is a large stingray with a diamond-shaped disc that is slightly wider than it is long. The disc can have a width of up to 1.22 meters (4 feet 0 inches) and a total length of 1.80 meters (5 feet 11 inches). Females grow larger than males. The diamond stingray has the following characteristics:
- Disc: Rhomboid or diamond-shaped, with angular outer corners and subtly convex margins
- Snout: Blunt-angled and non-projecting
- Tail: Short, one-third of the disc length, with one or two sharp, serrated spines
- Color: Mottled brown to olive, providing good camouflage against a sandy bottom
The diamond stingray is captured in commercial trawl fisheries and in intensive artisanal gillnet and longline fisheries. It is not targeted in southern California, the Hawaiian islands, and the Galápagos Islands.
